Are we born just to nag about the shortage of time? Of course, no.
This is a great chance to STOP wasting time and rather utilize it as a step in your Self Improvement journey right at home. Yes, it is doable. And achievable rather easily. Check below for the 10 things you can do at home to be productive during Corona lockdown.
Did anyone ever think that the entire world would be sitting behind closed doors for time infinite? And that too almost simultaneously!
Corona has brought all the countries together to fight this major crisis. While the Governments are left to fight the economic and welfare battles, the citizens are mostly busy killing time at home.
Remember those stories you used to tell yourself- ‘I so much wish to play games with my kids, but where is the time’, ‘Reading is my passion. But unfortunately, I don’t get enough time’, ‘Wish I could pull out half an hour each day and join XYZ course online’, and the list goes on!
Stories? Well, yup nothing but stories if you still haven’t started taking action on these things that you so much apparently longed for. And if you have, congratulations! We really wish the world is bestowed with more like you.
Yes, there has always been a better version of life beyond Netflix, Youtube, Depressing 24*7 NEWS channels, reality shows, and daily soaps!
When life throws lemons at you, make a lemonade!
Already having killed a few days, its time to start using this 21-day lockdown imposed in the wake of Corona as a blessing in disguise.
Remember, this can also be an opportunity to form life-changing habits. It’s psychologically proven, if we continue doing something religiously every day for 21 days, we form habits 🙂
Check here for the Top 10 things to do at home for Self-Development and Growth-
1. Think Hobbies
Reminisce about what you loved doing when in school, in college. Deep inside you will find the flame kindling again.
It could be anything- Indoor Sports (remember we can’t go outdoors; so stop thinking and grieving about their absence! Human tendency to seek perpetual stress), Sketching/Painting, Cooking, Sculpting, DIY, Reading, Writing or anything that appeals to you.
2. Get Fit(ter)
Are you also one of those who were waiting for the free time to start exercising? Well, you would have lots of company here.
Now, this is a God bestowed ‘Right’ and ‘Enough’ time to start doing it.
And, who says that exercising needs gymnasiums? Or, yea do we hear parks being coveted here? If yes, then trust us, you never wanted this actually.
If you can’t go about utilizing these wonderful 21 days to start working out, it’s never gonna happen.
Tip- Grab a piece of floor and just start off. Don’t make excuses for the Yoga mat not being there!
Yoga, Stretching, Floor exercises like crunches, burpees, mountain climbers, criss-cross, etc don’t really need any space. So, kick your butt out.
3. Family Time
How many of us always said that we lack enough time to spend with our family? I think the majority of the working community especially those living in metros would agree.
Now is the time. Use these days to connect and re-connect with our family and build close bonds.
We won’t even realize when our children grow up and leave the nest. Make the best of these days with your parents, spouse and children.
Do things together, play games, share thoughts (outside Corona too), love more.
4. Reconnect with Old Buddies
Time flies and we get so engaged in our lives that we often lose touch with our old friends. What can be a better time to reconnect with them (of course over the phone and social media)! Get the friendships rekindling.
5. Re-skill and Upgrade Yourself
Always thought of the courses you might take up to upgrade your skillset? All the time in hand is but yours.
Again mobility is no excuse. Whatever we aspire to take up as learning, is all available online in some form or the other. So, be at home and learn.
Use this on reskilling yourself and getting back to work with a bang. What we learn always adds some value and stays on with us.
6. Read with Kids
The habit of reading needs to be set up right from the childhood. While we had all these privileges during our school days, the current generation is spoilt with electronics. No time better than this can be to inculcate this habit in them and indulge in Self Development not only for you but also for the entire family.
I need not emphasize more- Don’t expect the kids to read while you are busy on your electronics. Lol ?
7. Bring Out the Entrepreneur in You
Your existing companies might hate me for triggering this, but how about your latent entrepreneurship plans? It could be anything small or big- remember everything starts with a dream, a thought followed by planning and execution. How about using this time as a trade-off? Do it. You never know what future beholds. And maybe, years later, you might want to thank me for this trigger.
What form of Self Improvement can be better than getting to have insights into your higher needs!
8. Indulge in Your Deeper Self | Practice Meditation and Mindfulness | Heal From Within
Inner peace is of paramount importance. And there is no way better than taking up meditation to get closer to this goal.

Trust me, even 5 minutes a day- yes, just 5 minutes can make a huge difference to our quality of life with Meditation.
9. Practice Gratitude
There is a huge science behind gratitude. Be grateful for what you have and count your blessings. If nothing else, we are alive, we are with our loved ones, we have a roof over our head. We are safer in the lockdown. At the same time, there are those who don’t have this liberty. They are still serving so that we can be safe. Be thankful. Everything will be okay. Be grateful for what you have and be ready to welcome abundance. Our thoughts frame what we make of our life. What happens was one manifested.
This is the time for a change. The time to think beyond yourself. Look around. Try to help those in need (of course while maintaining social distance). Unfortunately, most of us don’t mind throwing away loads of food that’s unused or leftover. But if we have to donate a bit, we feel the pangs of pain! Why so? Try not to waste and give what you can.
